He feels deeply connected to this painting. It brings him great contemplation. It is heart-driven and overwhelmingly romantic (in a literal sense, not the era). Perhaps it is a picture of two lovers, one grieving for the other who has passed away. It develops over time with no new sense of clarity. The music resolves on a minor chord, yet there is a sense of emotional resolution for the lovers. You share their distress and entrapment to separate planes of existence without the other.
Something bad is happening duing this piece. It reminds me of a poverty scene in a movie where someone is walking through an old, decripit place looking around at all the people near them.
This piece sounded a bit middle eastern to me. So my imagination sort of took it from there. I saw a man standing alone on a mountain in a desert. The sun was setting. He was on a very long and tiring journey. The sun was going down, but it was still very hot. The next day he is now traveling with a group, who I think somehow lost their homes. They had camels... and they were all walking in the intense heat of the sun, trying to find a new home.
I thought of a Desert. Probably a snake slithering about all sinister and such. Also made me thing of "Shore Leave" by Tom Waits because it's the exact image I have for that track. :)
Suspenseful-- felt like there was some sort of trouble and challenges ahead. Getting ready for something else to happen.. maybe trapped?

ReplyDeleteThis track felt kind of sad, but resigned. It sounded like the theme music for a traveler or and outcast, wandering around looking for home.
