Schopenhauer's belief regarding art is that it is its own form of communication. I agree in a very technical sense that inflections in pitch are registered by the brain and we respond to it emotionally. However, nearly all music is based solely on pitches and their combinations (known as chords), so like Schopenhauer loosely states, music transcends normal speech.

I agree with what you have to say about Schopenhauer. From the readings it occurred to me that Schopenhauer believed art was a type of communication between people, and the fact that it transcends speech.
