Schopenhauer splits the world into two parts: the object and the subject. Each catagory has its own law that holds it together. It's basically saying that everything can be perceived in a different way by multiple people. For example, if my friend and I were to witness a car crash, I may see the first car crash into the second car. But my friend, who was standing right next to me, may have seen the second car deliberately smash into the first car and cause the crash. reality would not exist if one half of the object/subject world were to disappear. Everyone sees the world differently, and that's what keeps the balance.
