We find that Plato picks out that speech, rhythm and music are the most important pieces to a musical piece. So if we we were to discuss Cage's piece again.. it wouldn't therefore make the cut.
I feel that music is something that we create from ourselves.. and the atmosphere we live in.. so really its a higher power.. a higher being if you will. We are able to connect and relate to the pieces.. and understand that we can be a part of it.. as a listener.. and as an observer if we choose to; as we move our body.. or sway.. tap our fingers to the beat.. or even our foot. If this is a part of ourself.. it shows really the outcomes of enjoying a particular piece.. etc.
