What I got from the reading is that the form and structure of the music then creates the emotion that one has with the music, which didn't really make any sense to me at all to be honest. I'm an avid lover of music, and the structure of the music has nothing to do with the emotion I get from it- It is such a bigger, deeper meaning to me than that.
Like Professor Cohen was saying, he is trying "to put a wet blanket" on the fire that Schopenhauer created. Most of what was said in this reading really was very much the same as before.. but subtly different.
