Nietzche definitely admires Wagner's early ways of approaching music and theater, for Wagner was able to accurately describe emotions in music and write such deep and elaborate opera's. But as Nietzche develops his own approach to thinking about music, he began to disagree with Wagner and how he had an accurate formula for depicting any emotion. Wagner began to use this in his rise with German Nationalism. It didn't seem real to Nietzche. The Apolinian side of art in which Wagner preferred, had less meaning due to it's lack of creativity. Though the formulas that Wagner were great and successful, it became predictable meaning the moments in which one would feel the emotion would be less strong. In a sense, Wagner's music began to stray away from what Dionysian art styles he did acknowledge or use.
