I found Nietzche's distinction to be helpful in someways but not in other. I really like his philosophy in the aspect of needing both the emotional and organized pieces of idea in order to create a complete work. While I appreciated this, I cannot understand how he can put poetry into both categories. I do agree though, that you cannot leave out emotion. But you cannot have just emotion either. I like to think of it as controlled emotion. Only with this can you have a successful work. It still puzzles me though, some of distinctions he made between Apollinina and Dionysian seem silly to me, like the division of poetry.
