Schopenhauer seems to view people as a desire-based existence and sees life as a sadder one. One's desire is for wealth, fame, or simply good health, the achieving of what fuels their happiness; whether it be the desire for wealth, fame, or simply good health, accomplishing one's wants begets happiness. However, happiness is fleeting. Sorrow is a constant.
This relates to music, as there seems to be more songs written within negative emotions, as apposed to positive emotions.
