Response for 10-19-11

The contrast Nietzsche makes between Apollonian and Dionysian concepts doesn't exactly help me when thinking about music. It does help me to understand the ideas the Schopenhauer was talking about a bit better, because it feels like Nietzsche's idea that a person needs both the organization of the Apollonian and the chaos of the Dionysian to make music is simply an attempt to compromise Schopenhauer's "Representation vs. Will" view of the world.
