Response 10-19-11

I don't believe that Nietzche's distinction between the Apollinian and the Dionysian helped me in particular when it comes to thinking about music. For me, it just gave me something extra to think about. I think that for me when it comes to music I classify it into two categories 'fun' music and music for contemplation. When I just want some mindless music that I can singalong to it reflects more of the Dionysian musical classification. While the music that I usually listen to when I really want to think or have something that appeals to my emotions is the Apollinian form of musical classification.
