Nietzsche believes that good music does not depress you, but makes you a happier person. Unlike Wagner's music it does not condone wrongdoings or play on darker human desires and drama. 'Good music' for example in reference to Plato's Republic is music that is refined and can make even the toughest person 'break' and does not cause unrest. He believes after listening to Bizet's music that music should be smooth not like French or German music, but like that of the Africans because the seas surrounding the continent are calm and smooth, while the bodies of water surrounding Europe are rough and cold. While Wagner may have much success by playing up this drama he is not the only 'redeemer' because Bizet proves to be a better musician because he is a good listener as well.
