Hanslick states that the connection between music and emotions is linked directly to the technical aspects of music. He also stated that only musical experts, such as composers and performers, can truly feel emotions. Hanslick says that just stating your feelings without having any musical knowledge is not expressing true emotion. Without understanding emotion's true counterpart, you can't truly understand emotion.

I have to agree- truly feeling is the only way of being able to show them properly through the music. IF you aren't able to link them with the technique aspect, then it isn't true feeling at all.
