According to Langer, music is an illusion because it's based on our perceptions and ideas. Everyone sees things differently, which creates different ideas. If we were to all see things the same, music would not be an illusion, because no ideas would be formed. With music, you hear what is going on. It's up to your mind to paint it's own picture of what is going on, whether it is what it's meant to be, or your own picture of it. Visual art lets you see other people's ideas, and it becomes a solid thing.
I completely agree with you. While I do feel that music is another presentation of somebody Else's will, much like visual art is the image of someone perception. What I mean is though we perceive it to our own occurrences and feelings, in all actuality we are hearing the depths of another's will.
