11/7/11 Response

Langer believes that music is an illusion because she connects music to perception because music is perceived imaginatively. For example a person experiences music today in reference to scenes from a movie which may not be what the music is necessarily about. She then goes on to say that music gives an 'auditory apparition of time' because music gives the feeling of movement without actually being able to move a person physically and can cause a moment to seem to move faster or slower. So, it's all a matter of perception to the listener in essence.
