Response to 11/7/11 Prompt

When Langer says that "music is an illusion," what she means is that upon entrance to the ears, it creates a virtual reality in the perception of time. What music cannot do, however, is physicalize itself, so being that this reality is void of any physical representation, the listener fills it with his or her own experiences and emotions. I suppose the main argument, then, is that this perception is different from person to person and that is why it is so easy to disagree with one another over not just the meaning of a song, but also the significance.
