Nietzsche doesn't like Brahms because Brahm's, like Wagner, is trying to deceive people with his music. Nietzsche doesn't like this and calls Brahm's the antagonist for Wagner and believes "Fifty steps more, and you have got the female Wagnerian..."(187). Though Nietzsche despises Wagner and places him responsible for the "ruin of music" he believes that "the others" are not any less guilty and therefore uses Brahms as an example by associating him with Wagner.
